Dot Mobi for everyone?

Today the .mobi domain is available for everyone to order. Now, if I try really really hard, I can actually imaging a world with this domain in it, and I think that I would... errhh... use it? On my current cell phone I would, yes, but wait.. What about tomorrow? Will it be worth the money and effort, to develop content only for this type of domain?

Will this .mobi ever be popular? And if it does, will it be by demand? Why is this new extension even needed? Why would you not develop future websites, to be able to handle both handhelds and normal browsers? Why would users with handheld devices want to limit them selves to special .mobi URL's? And why why why, do we even discuss all this, when all handheld devices within short time, have normal fully featured web browsers?

Who am I?

Hi, my name is Lars. I live in Copenhagen, Denmark. I have been working professionally with the Internet sins 1995, so I consider myself as one of the pioneers in many areas.

It all began when I developed a website tracking system long time ago. I needed a few websites in order to get some data so I could continue to develop this wonderful system. I started searching for people who wanted to use my system for free in different newsgroups on the Internet. A few people joined. Then some companies joined and actually also some universities. I was collecting lots of data, and the people who used it, helped me develop it further on with their requests for new features. I developed great interest in tracking the visitors behaviour, and used these learning’s, to optimize websites with huge success.

Today I work with optimizing e-commerce/e-business websites and websites in general. I'm also very interested in new trends and tendencies, and I plan to bring these subjects up for discussion with this weblog. First step would be getting enough visitors to actually read what I write.
